
Abstract The gig economy is having an impact on the professional generation of today because of the recent downsizing of skilled professionals and the power of globalization to create jobs for more underdeveloped nations. The gig economy has significantly changed people's perspectives of different professions and their levels of participation at work, both of which have an impact on the workplace. The potential and difficulties brought about by the gig economy's explosive growth are discussed in this paper. The study is descriptive in nature, and Niti Ayog's report, papers, journals, and other publications are reviewed in order to gather data. This essay explores the gig economy, which is a mode of employment where people take on temporary or independent occupations rather than working for a company. India is one of the top nations where gig economy culture is expanding, according to Freelancer, a global marketplace for crowd sourcing and freelancing. There are significant developments taking place in the gig economy. The gig economy benefits workers tremendously in terms of flexibility, employment, freedom, etc., but it also negatively impacts the industry's working environment. Policymakers and regulators should improve and broaden the regulatory framework governing gig work. The essay addresses five primary possibilities for regulating gig workers in this regard.
