These Simons Collaboration on Ocean Processes and Ecology (SCOPE) data products were produced by the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa with support from the Simons Foundation. The 2018 SCOPE-Falkor Cruise north of Oahu, Hawaii, built on the observations of the SCOPE expeditions conducted during 2015-2017 by looking at diel variability associated with the deep chlorophyll maximum and quantifying the impact of mesoscale eddies on the ecology and functioning of the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre. A unique aspect to the expedition was the use of Long-Range Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (LRAUVs) which were integrated into the science operations in conjunction with other oceanographic equipment. For this dataset, two biooptical instruments were plumbed to the underway uncontaminated seawater on the R/V Falkor. Data for each instrument were averaged to the hour and matched to a timestamp every hour. C-star: Filtered values (<0.2 um) removed from all data. ECO: filtered values (<0.2 um) removed from all data; chl fluorescence converted to mg/m3 using factory calibrations. The volume scattering is converted to particle backscattering coefficient following Boss and Pegau (2001). LEG 1 - Mar 15-24 and LEG 2 - Mar 28-Apr 9 2018. WARNING: Leg 1 yielded much noisier data compared to Leg 2 as ship was in constant transit (data from first few days of Leg 1 already excluded). This is attributed to bubbles associated with shallow intake depth of the ship. Leg 2 data, where sampling was overall Lagrangian and ship was stationary, show much smoother patterns. The timestamps are in UTC.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
