
Nyodes prasinodes (Prout A. E., 1921b) COMMON NAME(S): Noctuid moth or Edible caterpillar, at least in Zambia (called “Finamisilu” in “Bemba”, one of local languages in Zambia). SYNONYM(S): None. IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluatted (NE). DISTRIBUTION: Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia. LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Type locality is in NW Rhodesia [now NW Zambia] or the western half of the country using an imaginary line cutting the country into two in the north-south direction/plane from Ndola city to Siavonga town (but no specific localion in the region is indicated). LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants include Pteridium sp. (Dennstaedtiaceae) in Kenya but unknown in Zambia. SOURCES: De Prins & De Prins 2022; Prout 1921b.
