Abstract

La mortalité néonatale reste un défi majeur de santé publique, particulièment en Afrique subsaharienne où elle est souvent liée à des lacunes dans la prestation des soins à la naissance. L’objectif de cette étude était d’évaluer les pratiques professionnelles à l’unité de néonatologie de l’hôpital régional de Kindia. Il s’agissait d’une étude rétrospective qui s’est réalisée sur une période du 1ᵉʳ mai au 30 octobre 2025. L’analyse du poids de naissance montre que la majorité des nouveau-nés (66,4 %) avaient un poids normal compris entre 2500 et 3999 g. Les nouveau-nés de faible poids (< 2500 g) représentent 27,9 % des cas. Le sexe masculin était le plus représenté (56,4 %) contre (42,9 %) pour le sexe féminin. Les principaux diagnostics d’admission par ordre de décroissance de fréquence des pathologies étaient : les infections néonatales (58%), l’asphyxie périnatale (24,8%), le retard de croissance intra utérin (18,8%), la prématurité (11,9%), ictère néonatal (2,3%) et malformation congénitale (1,5%). Près de 76 % (75,5%) des nouveau-nés avaient bénéficiés des soins essentiels contre 6 % pour ceux qui n’avaient pas bénéficiés. Les dossiers n’étaient pas renseignés dans 18,4% des cas. Concernant les soins curatifs, 36,5% des nouveau-nés avaient bénéficiés de l’antibiothérapie, de l’administration de l’oxygène (0,66%) et des antipaludiques (0,49). Pour améliorer la survie des nouveau-nés à l’unité de néonatologie, il faudra investir dans l’équipement, dans la formation du personnel, sur les protocoles de soins essentiels et curatifs, et dans la mise en place de systèmes internes de monitorage de la qualité des soins néonatals.
