Revision of Bias-Corrected CMIP6 GCMs and Recalculation of CFFDRS Fire Weather Indices in Boreal North America

Abstract

This codebase revises the original repository (https://zenodo.org/records/7783759) authored by Adam Young. The vast majority of the code remains unchanged. During the original processing of this dataset, some humidity values in the bias-corrected CMIP6 data fell outside the valid range of 0–100%. This issue arose as an artifact of the quantile delta mapping bias-correction method and subsequently affected the calculation of the CFFDRS indices. The purpose of this revised processing pipeline is to constrain humidity values to the physically valid range of 0–100% and to recompute the CFFDRS indices accordingly. This revision was undertaken after identifying erroneous values in the original USGS ScienceBase data release: https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/item/67ead89cd34ed02007f8357f. The updated codebase will support a forthcoming data release (TBD) containing only the bias-corrected CMIP6 data and derived CFFDRS indices. The boreal fire analysis component will be issued separately in its own data release (TBD).
