GDI/B1MGplus Stakeholder Forum 2025: GDI and B1MGplus outputs providing value to other EU data space projects today and in the future

Abstract

The GDI/B1MGplus Stakeholder Forum, held on 20 January 2026, brought together over 70 participants from across Europe and beyond. The Forum provided an update on progress across 1+Million Genomes Initiative (1+MG) projects, with a particular focus on how outputs developed within Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) and Beyond 1 Million Genomes plus (B1MGplus) are providing value to other European health and research data space initiatives, and plan to continue to do so in the future. Presentations highlighted concrete technical, governance and policy outputs from GDI and B1MGplus, and showcased their uptake or planned reuse by related initiatives such as ERDERA, CANDLE, and Genome of Europe (GoE). The Forum also enabled discussion among stakeholders on interoperability, sustainability and alignment across EU data spaces, confirming strong interest in reusing GDI and B1MGplus outputs beyond the immediate 1+MG context.
