Supplementary data for: Mammals zoogeochemical effects change litter and soil biogeochemistry in a tropical rainforest

Abstract

This dataset contains information on camera-trap observations, litter, and soil properties collected in the Atlantic Forest biome, at Carlos Botelho State Park, São Paulo, Brazil. Data were collected between March 2023 and March 2024 as part of the DEFAU-BIOTA project, a long-term exclusion experiment consisting of paired Open and Closed plots. The dataset can be used to explore the effects of ground-dwelling mammals on litter and soil biogeochemistry and to support reproducibility of analyses presented in Ribeiro et al. (2026).

Keywords

belowground, biodiversity, defaunation, large herbivores, frugivores, neotropics, soil ecology
