Drone-based individual stem forestry inventory (Report + Excel + geojson) | Digitalisation of inventory - Mantinos site (Palencia, Spain)

Abstract

The data provided corresponds to a precision forestry inventory conducted via under-canopy and over-canopy drone flights. It captures detailed metrics at the individual tree level in the Mantinos site (Palencia, Spain) within the region of Castile and León. Forestry Inventory Report Digimedfor Sample.pdf: A detailed forestry inventory report that includes the methodology, stand-level summaries, and spatial distribution maps (e.g., diameter at breast height, basal area, dominant height, and tree density). Individual_stem_inventory_Digimedfor_sample.xlsx: A dataset containing the individual stem inventory. It provides key dasometric variables for every identified tree, such as Diameter at Breast Height (DBH), total height (StemHeight_m), stem volume (StemVol_m3), and total volume. individual_stem_inventory_Digimedfor_sample_25830epsg.geojson: A vector geographic data file containing the exact location of each tree along with its associated attributes, projected in the ETRS89 / UTM zone 30N coordinate system (EPSG:25830). This file is ideal for accurate spatial analysis and metric measurements. individual_stem_inventory_Digimedfor_sample_4326epsg.geojson: A vector geographic file identical to the previous one, but transformed into the global WGS 84 coordinate system (EPSG:4326). Usage Instructions & Spatial Interoperability: All provided spatial data in .geojson format rely on open standards and can be seamlessly imported, processed, and analyzed in any desktop Geographic Information System (GIS) software, such as QGIS or ArcGIS. Quick Web Visualization: To instantly visualize the georeferenced data without installing specialized GIS software, use the individual_stem_inventory_Digimedfor_sample_4326epsg.geojson file. Simply drag and drop this file onto the web platform geojson.io (Powered by Mapbox) to load the tree points and explore their attributes directly on an interactive map in your browser.
