Seasonal Hydrographic and Biogeochemical Dynamics in the Ella Ø Fjord Complex, East Greenland

Abstract

Greenland plays a central role in the global climate system. Ice loss across the Greenland Ice Sheet is increasing due to enhanced surface melting and accelerated glacier discharge, contributing to sea level rise and potentially altering ocean circulation and marine ecosystems. Fjords form the critical interface between the ice sheet and the ocean, yet most Greenlandic fjords lack sustained observations, particularly seasonally resolved hydrographic datasets. This dataset contains glacier-to-coast hydrographic sections from the Ella Ø fjord complex in East Greenland, documenting pronounced seasonal variability in water mass structure and freshwater contributions. Location: Ella Ø fjord complex, East GreenlandRealm: MarineData type: Glacier-to-coast hydrographic sections (temperature, salinity, turbidity, freshwater fractions)Start date: August 2021End date: April 2025
