Media nutqining funksiyasi, kanali, formati, auditoriyasi, uslubi hamda mafkuraviy pozitsiyasi asosida shakllanuvchi ko‘p qatlamli tuzilmasi ilmiy jihatdan asoslanadi. Diskurs tahlilining fanlararo xususiyati, jumladan, tilshunoslik, sotsiologiya, psixologiya va madaniyatshunoslik bilan uzviy aloqasi yoritiladi. Shuningdek, kino va seriallar diskursining lingvistik va pragmatik imkoniyatlari, annotatsiya semantikasi hamda stilistik vositalar tahlili muhim yo‘nalish sifatida ko‘rib chiqiladi.
