The fused Principia text is a piece of historical science-fiction: it asks what it would look like if Newton, while remaining Newton, leaned harder on his polygonal constructions and on the (already interference-like) evidence in the Opticks (Newton’s rings; “fits of easy reflection and transmission”), and then treated the smooth curve as an emergent approximation rather than the foundation. This version include auxiliary documents used in the last phase of the composition.
