Abstract

Pinus sylvestris PINHEIRO-SILVESTRE, PINHEIRO-DE-CASQUINHA ® PINACEAE Pinus sylvestris é uma árvore de ampla distribuição eurossiberiana que alcança Portugal de forma finícola, ocorrendo apenas uma população autóctone na serra do Gerês, local que constitui o limite oeste da sua distribuição global.Embora também seja plantada noutras serras de Portugal (a partir de material de origem,provavelmente,não autóctone),nesta ficha apenas se avalia a população nativa. É avaliada como Em Perigo já que possui extensão de ocorrência e área de ocupação reduzidas (com cerca de 285 km2 e de 24 km2, respetivamente),identificam-se apenas três localizações e assinala-se declínio continuado ao nível da área e qualidade de habitat e do número de indivíduos maduros. Atualmente, contam-se apenas cerca de 1600 indivíduos maduros numa única subpopulação, apesar de novos núcleos que se estão a promover através de plantação de material autóctone. A principal pressão/ameaça são os incêndios florestais, que, com as previstas alterações climáticas, se podem tornar cada vez mais recorrentes e catastróficos. Outras grandes ameaças são a endogamia e também a poluição genética oriunda das plantações com espécimes de origem alóctone. Para contrariar estas ameaças, é essencial apostar num plano de gestão que promova o restauro ecológico dos núcleos existentes e a promoção de outros novos,como está a ser feito,por exemplo, nos parques naturais do Alvão e da serra da Estrela (neste não terão sobrevivido ao primeiro verão), a vigilância e prevenção de incêndios,assim como um plano de abate do pinheiro-silvestre alóctone, nas áreas de influência dos núcleos autóctones espontâneos ou cultivados.
