Abstract

Embora sejam relativamente conhecidas as implicações ambientais da criação de assentamentos rurais no Brasil, ainda há uma compreensão limitada sobre os efeitos desta na degradação das pastagens, especialmente no Cerrado brasileiro. Esta pesquisa objetivou entender a evolução das pastagens nos assentamentos, comparando-as com seus entornos. Para tanto, realizou-se análises através do mapeamento das pastagens (MapBiomas), imagens de satélites obtidas e processadas na plataforma Google Earth Engine, visitas de campo e análises das classes de solos presentes. Os resultados mostram que a criação dos assentamentos rurais dinamizou os imóveis rurais, aumentando as pastagens em 18%, ante 5% dos seus entornos. Verificou-se que, em regra, os assentamentos rurais acompanham as tendências de melhora ou piora das pastagens do seu contexto local, com uma melhora mais expressiva no interior dos assentamentos. Esses resultados confirmam o potencial dos dados satelitários na determinação das condições produtivas das pastagens, com ~70% de acerto entre escritório e campo. Porém, alguns desafios ainda precisam ser vencidos, como superar as influências das variações sazonais na percepção de degradação daspastagens.
