Abstract

Der Beitrag behandelt die Datenaufbereitung und -modellierung historischer Bibelübersetzungen im kolonialen Kontext im Rahmen des Global-Bibel-Projekts der Universitäten Münster und Bristol. Der Fokus liegt auf dem Spannungsfeld zwischen quellennaher und zielorientierter Modellierung historischer Informationen. Ausgangspunkt ist das Book of a Thousand Tongues, ein Verzeichnis von Bibelübersetzungen in zahlreiche Sprachen. Besondere Herausforderung ist die Erfassung ungenannter Akteure ("silenced actors"), die in der historischen Datenbank FactGrid als unidentifizierte Personen oder Gruppen abgebildet werden. Technisch erfolgte die Strukturierung mithilfe von OCR, LangChain (GPT-4.1) und RDF-Export in ein Wikibase-Datenmodell. Das Fazit betont, dass Bibelübersetzungen als komplexe, historisch eingebettete Prozesse verstanden werden müssen. Eine bloße Modellierung bibliographischer Fakten reicht nicht aus; erforderlich ist ein flexibler, ereignisbasierter Ansatz, der sowohl quellennahe als auch analytische Perspektiven integriert. FactGrid bietet dafür prinzipiell die nötige Flexibilität, erfordert aber eine differenzierte Modellierungspraxis zwischen CIDOC CRM-ähnlicher Ereignisstruktur und der typischen Qualifier-Nutzung von Wikibase.
