Was bestimmt die Zeit? Eine Mobile-Eye-Tracking-Studie zum Blickverhalten im Kunstmuseum

Abstract

Die Verweildauer in Ausstellungen galt lange als Maß für Aufmerksamkeit, Interesse und kuratorisches Gelingen. Während klassische Methoden hierfür nur begrenzt aussagekräftig sind, ermöglicht Mobile Eye Tracking (MET) detaillierte Einblicke in Blickverläufe und Betrachtungszeiten. Studien, die den Besuch einer gesamten Kunstausstellung unter natürlichen Bedingungen erfassen, fehlen bislang. Dieser Beitrag schließt diese Lücke mit einer MET-Feldstudie, die im Oktober 2022 mit 50 regulären Besucher:innen (je 25 pro Bedingung) in einer Sonderausstellung des Oberen Belvedere durchgeführt wurde. Die Ergebnisse zeigen: (i) längere Betrachtungszeiten für Kunstwerke im Verhältnis zu Texten; (ii) eine positive Korrelation von Betrachten und Lesen; (iii) eine signifikante Korrelation von Betrachtungszeit und Größe des Kunstwerkes; (iv) signifikante Unterschiede zwischen den Gattungen.
