
AbstractThis parchment, preserved in the archive of the Royal Chancelleryof Valladolid, contains a family agreement betweenan uncle and a nephew, to resolve the conflicting situation ofinheritance that had already lasted fifteen years. The formalrichness of the document is striking, containing three notarialacts, with three different dates, three different groups ofwitnesses, in which the same notary, the same judge andthe same good men act. The dimensions of the parchment,the good handwriting and the condition of a cured documentguarantee the social status of the Galician languagein the 15th century. The place name Balinfra in the oral traditionof the municipality of Nigrán (Pontevedra) is related tothe ancestors of Luís de Camoens.
