Abstract

L'aspect du sujet abordé dans cette étude. Cette étude a reconstitué l'itinéraire complet des patients adultes atteints de pathologies neurologiques à Douala, depuis l'apparition des premiers symptômes jusqu'à la prise en charge spécialisée, afin d'en identifier les principales étapes et les facteurs de retard. Ce que cette étude apporte de nouveau. Elle objective un délai médian de 5,6 mois avant la première consultation spécialisée, une perte de temps critique. Elle révèle que 46 % des patients privilégient d'abord la médecine traditionnelle ou l'automédication, et que 2,3 structures sont consultées en moyenne avant le diagnostic. Le retard est triplé par la pauvreté, l'éloignement géographique et le caractère chronique des symptômes, avec un impact direct sur la sévérité clinique et la qualité de vie.
