INTRODUCTION: Wisdom-driven Evaluation and Continuous Quality Improvement (WE-CQI) is a team science-based approach for CTSA impact evaluation and CQI. We build on this framework to incorporate a process for dissemination; providing CTSA programs with an integrated approach for evaluation, CQI, and dissemination. METHODS: We build on the WE-CQI framework to create a conceptual model that incorporates dissemination using the well-validated Evidence-based Model for the Transfer and Exchange of Research Knowledge (EMTReK). This new framework guides quality improvement, impact evaluation using the Translational Science Benefits Model (TSBM), and dissemination of CTSA innovations (technologies, products, programs and processes) using the EMTReK. WE-CQI emphasizes collaborative planning, shared action, and team reflection & learning to iteratively improve processes and impact. EMTReK focuses on selecting impactful innovations, identifying target audiences, and using implementation strategies for dissemination. RESULTS: In the combined model, WE-CQI provides structured opportunities and a team science-based approach to refining each phase of the dissemination process, ensuring alignment between improvement efforts, TSBM impacts, and dissemination goals of CTSA innovations. The framework proposes pilot testing newly developed innovations and dissemination strategies within the CTSA Consortium for refinement and improvement, before targeting broader audiences. Evaluation of dissemination activities and implementation outcomes, including feasibility, fidelity, penetration, acceptability, sustainability, uptake, and costs are recommended for continuous learning and enhancement. DISCUSSION: By merging WE-CQI’s team science-based approach to iterative improvement and TSBM impact evaluation with EMTReK’s structured process for dissemination, the combined framework enhances both quality and uptake of CTSA innovations. This holds promise for speeding the translation of research.
