Abstract

L'aspect du sujet abordé dans cette étude. Cette étude décrit les caractéristiques épidémiologiques, cliniques et thérapeutiques de la cataracte congénitale chez l'enfant dans le principal hôpital militaire de Conakry, sur une période de deux ans. Ce que cette étude apporte de nouveau. La cataracte congénitale représente 8,9 % des consultations ophtalmologiques pédiatriques à l'HMC. L'âge moyen au diagnostic est tardif (3,4 ans), et plus de la moitié des enfants consultent après un an d'évolution. Les embryofoetopathies, notamment la rubéole, sont la cause principale (46 %). La chirurgie avec implantation est systématique, mais les complications per et postopératoires concernent 10 à 15 % des cas.
