Abstract

L'aspect du sujet abordé dans cette étude. Cette étude décrit les caractéristiques sociodémographiques, cliniques et les causes de décès des enfants diabétiques suivis pendant dix ans au CHU Donka, principal centre de référence de Guinée. Ce que cette étude apporte de nouveau. Le taux de mortalité atteint 5,9 % sur la période, concernant presque exclusivement des adolescents (93,5 %). L'acidocétose est la première cause de décès (61,3 %), suivie de la tuberculose (16,1 %). Plus de la moitié des enfants vivaient dans des conditions socio-économiques vulnérables ou précaires (64,5 %). Le contrôle métabolique était médiocre chez 51,6 % des patients décédés, et une néphropathie débutante était présente chez 35,5 %.
