
Abstract The article examines the aspects of influence of musical activities on the development of mathematical abilities of schoolchildren.Connections have been identified between the elegance of musical art and the logical concepts of mathematics, revealed and explored by ancient thinkers.The characteristics of Pythagoras' discovery of the division of harmonies into consonances and dissonances are described.The foundations of Plato's philosophy of musical education and training are outlined. Common concepts for music and mathematics have been identified: rhythm, fractions, variations, parallelism…Personal observations on the development of children studying in two schools, their differences under the influence of classical music.
