Abstract

NATAE Practice abstract n. 16: Recycling. Working Package 7. A NATAE practice abstract is a summary that describes an agroecological practice that can be used as a valuable resource by farmers, researchers, policy makers, and other stakeholders interested in adopting or promoting agricultural practices that contribute to sustainability, productivity, and competitiveness in the agricultural sector. Ce document décrit le compostage comme une pratique agroécologique permettant de recycler les résidus de culture provenant des oliveraies et des oasis méditerranéennes. Il explique comment des résidus tels que les déchets d'élagage des oliviers et la biomasse sèche des palmiers peuvent être transformés en compost organique stable grâce à des processus aérobies. Le compostage réduit le brûlage des déchets, les émissions de gaz à effet de serre et les risques phytosanitaires, tout en améliorant la fertilité, la structure et l'activité biologique des sols. Le document présente également des méthodes pratiques de compostage, les principales exigences en matière de gestion et les défis à relever, notamment le broyage des matériaux ligneux, le contrôle de l'humidité et l'accès à des équipements appropriés, en particulier pour les petits agriculteurs.
