Permafrost temperatures are steadily increasing across the Arctic, but uncertainties in estimation need to be reduced. The Arctic Landscape EXplorer (ALEX) is a tool to explore land surface change data derived from satellite remote sensing analysis of the permafrost regions throughout the Arctic. Interactive maps, visualizations and storymaps provide up-to-date information on land surface changes, hotspots of disturbance, and potential areas of active permafrost thaw and erosion, making it easy to identify shorelines with high erosion dynamics. Other critical landscape changes, including fire scars and lake drainage, can also be easily identified.
