Abstract

Aufruf zur Reflexion ... Seit Langem beobachte ich die Entwicklung der traditionellen Geschlechterrollen in der Gesellschaft. Trotz aller Bemühungen zeigen praktische Erfahrungen: Für jedes überholte Vorurteil scheint zwischen Mann und Frau ein neues zu entstehen. Das ist irritierend, zumal moderne Gesellschaften erhebliche Ressourcen investieren, um solche Stereotype abzubauen. Sozialpsychologische Studien (z. B. Eagly & Wood 2012; Cuddy et al. 2008; Fiske 1998) zeigen, dass unsere Sprache selbst einen erheblichen Anteil an der Entstehung und Stabilisierung von Vorurteilen hat. Vereinfacht gesagt belegen diese und ähnliche Studien, dass Begriffe Erwartungen erzeugen. Erwartungen erzeugen Stereotype. Und Stereotype prägen das Verhalten. Und das ist unabhängig von politischen Überzeugungen. Diese Effekte wirken automatisch und zuverlässig. Welches Bild ergibt sich wohl, wenn wir unter diesem Licht das Gendern neu betrachten und bewerten? Was bedeutet es, wenn jede sprachliche Unterscheidung unweigerlich neue Stereotype hervorbringt, die wiederum unser Verhalten prägen? Kann ein sprachliches System, das zusätzliche Unterscheidungen einführt, unbeabsichtigt genau jene Vorurteile stärken, die es abbauen möchte? Kann die Reaktion der Mehrheit — das völlige Ignorieren der guten Absicht, die zunehmende Frustration gegenüber genderbezogenen Sprachreformen — hier eine Erklärung liefern? Oder, wenn auch keine vollständige Erklärung, dann doch vielleicht einen Ansatz bieten? Und was könnte die manchmal regelrecht wuterfüllte Ablehnung noch erklären? Diese Fragen sind unangenehm, aber notwendig. ...
