The oral administrations of crude extract of 400mg/kg bwt of M.charantia and M.koenigii along with (1:1) proportion of M.charantian and M.koenigii for 21 days resulted a significant decrease in blood glucose levels, followed by a reduction in all the parameters tested for Liver and Renal function and Lipid profiles. Even a decreased LPO activity along with a decreased antioxidant enzyme activity of (SOD and Catalase) was reportes as against the diabetic rats. The observed effects is due to presences of Saponins, Flavonones, Alkoloids and Flavonoids present in the crude extracts of both the plants. Further, the observed reduction in all the tested parameters compared with a synthetic oral drug- Metformin (with 120 mg/kg) b.w shows which more or less closely related activity with the drug. The overall result reveals that the extracts of M. charantia and M.koenigii have a marked hypoglycemic, hyperlipidemic and Antioxidant activity.
