While the manner of reversal restored rule of law equilibrium, its timing inevitably raises questions about judicial susceptibility to public pressure. Judicial independence is not compromised by judicial reconsideration of earlier orders, it is compromised when reasoned legal analysis appears reactive rather than principled.
