This book presents the solo exhibition project "Incerteza Viva" by the artist from Jaén (Spain), María Dolores Gallego, organized by MECA (Mediterráneo Centro Artístico) in Almería (Spain) from November 5 to 25, 2021, under the direction and curation of Fernando Barrionuevo and Rosa Muñoz Bustamante. The exhibition, comprising a previously unpublished artistic project of 11 works in various formats and sizes (ranging from 25x18 cm to 146x200 cm), is a visual reflection on the uncertainty that characterizes contemporary society—a feeling amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic and experienced by the artist since her time in Brazil. Through non-static and changing contemporary paintings, the project employs a predominantly warm and vibrant color palette and addresses existential themes such as instability, doubt, chaos, and, in its final layer, death. Furthermore, the exhibited works, such as "(orange) transformer, (blue) Europe," "(black) death," or "(red) from love to hate," are in a site-specific format. The entire project was created after receiving a 2020 Artistic Creation Grant from the Andalusian Agency for Cultural Institutions of the Department of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Regional Government of Andalusia. As a result of the research and artistic creation undertaken, in this new pictorial project, tulle has become the artistic material used for painting and composing through overlapping color planes to create interference patterns that function as optical illusions from an innovative perspective. The publication, edited by MECA with design and layout by TqPlusArt, includes critical texts by the curator and the artist, photographs of the installation, photographs of the paintings along with their technical details, photographs of the exhibition project, and an extensive biography of the artist. This biography highlights her academic training (PhD in History and Arts from the University of Granada), her involvement in research groups, her teaching activity, a distinguished national and international exhibition career, as well as numerous awards and distinctions.
