Plate 3.3 Water Equivalent of the Snow Cover

Abstract

The water equivalent of the snow cover describes the amount of water stored in the snow cover for a period of days, weeks or months. For the water management it conveys far more information than the depth of snow. As a term of the water balance, it is relevant to small basins as well as to the large catchments.
