Las sustancias psicotrópicas en el rendimiento físico y salud del estudiante universitario del Ecuador

Abstract

El presente estudio analizó la influencia del consumo de sustancias psicotrópicas en el rendimiento físico y la salud integral de estudiantes universitarios del Ecuador, mediante un enfoque metodológico mixto, diseño no experimental y alcance descriptivo-correlacional. La muestra estuvo conformada por 264 estudiantes, seleccionados mediante muestreo probabilístico estratificado. Los resultados evidenciaron una elevada prevalencia de consumo, destacándose el alcohol (67,42 %), el cannabis (36,36 %) y los estimulantes (28,03 %), con un 46,97 % de estudiantes ubicados en nivel de riesgo moderado y un 18,18 % en riesgo alto. En el rendimiento físico, se observaron disminuciones progresivas del VO₂ máximo (42,8 a 34,1 ml/kg/min), la fuerza explosiva (189 a 161 cm) y la agilidad (16,3 a 19,8 s) conforme aumentó el consumo. En la salud general, se identificaron elevados niveles de ansiedad (81,25 %), trastornos del sueño (79,16 %) y fatiga crónica (72,91 %) en el grupo de alto consumo. La correlación de Pearson evidenció relaciones negativas significativas entre consumo y capacidad aeróbica (r = -0,71), fuerza explosiva (r = -0,68) y salud general (r = -0,75), confirmando el impacto integral del consumo. Se concluye que las sustancias psicotrópicas afectan de manera significativa el rendimiento físico y la salud del estudiante universitario, lo que demanda la implementación urgente de programas integrales de prevención, promoción de la actividad física y fortalecimiento del bienestar estudiantil.
