Incontinencia Urinaria y Calidad de Vida en Adultos Mayores de la UMF 84

Abstract

TIEMPO A DESARROLLAR: septiembre a diciembre 2024. Abstract BACKGROUND: Urinary incontinence is a disease in older adults, involving a deleterious prognosis that limits the patient and decreases their quality of life. It can also be complicated by dermatitis in the perineal region, risk of skin ulcers, urinary tract infections, falls, anxiety, depression, and sometimes death. OBJECTIVE: To associate urinary incontinence with quality of life in older adults at UMF84. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An observational, cross-sectional, comparative study was conducted in the population of adults over 65 years at UMF No. 84 who met the inclusion criteria, with the sample size calculated using a proportion formula and non-probabilistic convenience sampling. ICIQ-ST questionnaires were applied to identify the presence of urinary incontinence, and the KHQ questionnaire was administered to assess quality of life. RESULTS: In the present study, it was found that the majority of the surveyed population was female, accounting for 69.2%, with the most commonly participating age group being between 65-70 years at 38.5%. The highest quality of life was predominantly reported at 83.7%, and moderate urinary incontinence had the highest prevalence at 31.8%. RESOURCES: The researcher will fund the resources to be used. GROUP EXPERIENCE: The research team has experience in observational research. DEVELOPMENT PERIOD: September to December 2024.
