Habitat: This species is found in areas with strong currents, usually in the higher course of rivers. Distribution: Wide distribution inthe Pacific Ocean: Japan (Ryukyu), Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia (Samo and, Marquesas). Remarks: Reported from Mindoro under the name Atya serrata by Estampador (1937 [18], 1959 [19]). Not represented in our collections. This species has been assessed as Least Concern for the IUCN Red List (De Grave et al., 2013 [49]).
