Abstract This work presents a foundational ontological description of reality derived from the minimal conditions required for existence to occur at all. Rather than beginning with physical laws, spacetime, particles, or fields, the analysis begins with Zero, defined as perfect symmetry. It is shown that existence cannot arise from symmetry and must instead originate from an irreducible asymmetric deviation that cannot fully realign. This deviation is not a physical object but a structural condition that permits distinction, persistence and change. All observable phenomena, including light, matter, gravity and complex systems, are described as arising exclusively from either asymmetric alignment or asymmetric rejection of this deviation. The framework is logically prior to physical theory, compatible with existing models and constrains the conditions under which any symbolic or descriptive system can fully represent reality. Introduction Most contemporary theories of physics begin from assumptions that already presuppose existence. Spacetime, fields, particles, and laws are treated as given, while the deeper question of why anything exists at all is either deferred or reframed as metaphysical. This work takes a different approach. It addresses the logically prior problem of what must be true for distinction, persistence and change to be possible in the first place. The analysis presented here is ontological rather than physical. It does not propose a new force, particle or mathematical model, nor does it attempt to replace existing predictive frameworks such as quantum field theory or general relativity. Instead, it examines the minimal structural conditions required for any such framework to meaningfully describe something rather than nothing. By defining Zero as perfect symmetry and showing that existence cannot arise from symmetry, the paper identifies an irreducible asymmetric deviation as the smallest possible basis of reality. From this foundation, all observable structure is shown to arise through either asymmetric alignment, which permits persistence and memory or asymmetric rejection, which results in propagation and motion. The work therefore operates beneath physics, mathematics, language and symbolic representation, establishing a common structural ground upon which all descriptive systems depend. Logically physics, mathematics, language and symbolic representations should be in agreement with the logic of this foundation.
