Interoperability improvement as a key action to support the implementation of the MAP Data Policy

Abstract

This presentation was held during the MedProgramme Mission to Tunisia aimed to enhance visibility of results, capitalize experiences, and plan future actions held from 22 to 25 of September in Tunis. In the frame of a Small Scale Funding Agreement singed with MedProgramme in April 2025, we are conducting this practical exercise with a subset of MedProgramme beneficiary countries to (i) analyse together with the country their IT infrastructures (platforms) and databases to see how data/metadata/infrastructures are managed, (ii) explore possibilities for a better Data Policy application (where necessary) and improve interoperability with regional (UNEP/MAP) infrastructures, such as KMaP, (iii) write a national plan to do this, carrying best practices and guidelines "personalized" by country. If successful, this experience/model could surely be exported to all the UNEP/MAP CPs.
