India is experiencing an incredible growth of tourism development and heritage tourism is one of the tourism branches that have long contributed to attract the overseas & domestic tourist especially with special interests in heritage and arts, Culture. Heritage tourism has become as a potential form of alternative tourism. However, it is tragic that despite such vastness of area and richness in all types of cultural heritage, there are very few items listed in ‘World Heritage list’ of UNESCO. This is due to lack of identification and recognition.
