EL ARTE DE LA ACCIÓN EN EL ÁMBITO EDUCATIVO: UNA HERRAMIENTA PARA LA CONCIENCIACIÓN CIUDADANA.

Abstract

This article examines artivism—the intersection of art and activism—as an educational and social tool for promoting critical awareness, civic engagement, and social transformation. Drawing on experiences developed in university and community contexts in Spain, the study explores how socially engaged artistic practices can function as pedagogical resources to address issues such as inequality, social exclusion, and social justice. The research is based on the perspectives of artists, educators, and students involved in artivist initiatives, highlighting how art can move beyond aesthetic expression to become a language of social action, dialogue, and collective reflection. The study emphasizes the role of art in fostering empathy, making marginalized realities visible, and strengthening the relationship between education, community, and social commitment. This work is aimed at educators, social education professionals, artists, students, and cultural practitioners, as well as anyone interested in the use of art as a tool for social change and transformative education.
