Exterminio y tutela: Procesos de formación de alteridades en el Brasil

Abstract

Tratar a los indígenas como agentes efectivos en la construcción de un país es como tocar un castillo de naipes: al retirar una carta, se derrumban interpretaciones consagradas y memorias incuestionables. El investigador debe entonces establecer otras interrelaciones, construir significados nuevos, rechazar categorías y prácticas coloniales (presentes en nuestro cotidiano), revisar críticamente sus instrumentos de análisis, no dejarse atrapar por límites disciplinarios y, principalmente, adoptar una perspectiva de frontera. Basado en un trabajo etnográfico y dialógico, a través de nueve estudios sobre los indígenas en la formación del Brasil, el autor se vale de la antropología histórica para tejer interrelaciones entre el mundo colonial y la contemporaneidad, entre los poderes disciplinarios y los modos de resistencia e insurgencia, entre las políticas públicas nacionales y la mundialización.
