
Nitzschia palea (Kützing) W. Smith (1856: 89) (Fig. 24) Morphology: Valves narrowly linear-lanceolate to linear, 40.1–50.7 µm long, 4.8–5.0 µm wide. Apices barely protracted, acutely rounded. Valves equipped with striae (27–37/10 µm) and fibulae (15–18.5/10 µm). Representative samples: O-1, O-5, O-8, O-9, O-10, O-12, O-13, O-15, O-16, O-L. Ecology: found in samples with pH=5.16–8.24, t=6.3–13.7°С, Ec=10–420 µS/cm, TDS<0.20 ppt. Salinity and pH-indifferent, oligosaprobic.
