Abstract

Starting from Pope Francis's encyclical letter Laudato si’, this contribution analyses Paul’s reflections on the ecological challenge developed in Rom 8:18-30. Three steps are proposed: an analysis of the argument offered by the apostle in this text; a reflection on the implications that the complex interpretation of the lexeme κτίσις offers for understanding Paul’s argument; the perspectives offered by the text for a theological reflection on the relationship between believers and creation, with a specific focus on Rom 8:18-22, where the term κτίσις is most frequently used.
