La lectura asociada al desarrollo del pensamiento crítico en estudiantes de Educación Básica Superior

Abstract

El objetivo de este artículo fue analizar la asociación entre lectura y desarrollo del pensamiento crítico en estudiantes de educación básica superior; respecto a la metodología fue cuantitativa, descriptiva y transversal, se realizó con 109 participantes de octavo a décimo año de unidades educativas dispersas que asistieron a una biblioteca municipal de Santa Elena; se aplicaron dos cuestionarios tipo Likert de 15 ítems por variable. Los datos obtenidos alcanzaron una puntuación de 0,922 respecto a la fiabilidad general y distribuciones anormales en ambas variables, se obtuvo porcentajes algos en los niveles regular y alto en relación a hábito, motivación y comprensión, en cambio la lectura global se situó en un nivel regular. En cuanto al pensamiento crítico existió mayor predominio regular con pesos en bajo para reflexión y análisis, sobre la vinculación de la lectura y pensamiento crítico se obtuvo ρ = 0,514 (p < ,001) y la relación lectura–motivación llegó a ρ = 0,751.El cruce de niveles indicó que en lectura alta, 70,0% presentó pensamiento crítico alto; en lectura regular, la mayoría se ubicó en pensamiento crítico regular. A partir de estos resultados se concluyó que el desempeño lector, entendido como práctica con hábito, comprensión e interés sostenido, guardó relación positiva con el pensamiento crítico en este nivel educativo.
