The world is becoming increasingly busy, and visually impaired persons encounter numerous obstacles in this ever-changing environment. One of the major challenges faced by them is usage of public transportation, viz., bus travel. In order to solve the problems and to guarantee safety for visually impaired and blind people (VIBP), a "Transportation Aiding System for Visually Impaired" has been proposed. This assistive technology based system comprises a SIM800A GSM-GPRS Module with GSM antenna, Neo-6m GPS Module, Arduino UNO Board and Speaker module. This system works with the help of a mobile application. The system uses voice recognition to interface with the user. Since this system uses a GPS module, the user receives real-time information in the form of speech signals regarding the path he is travelling. The proposed method has been tested and confirmed to be effective and simple to use.
