Implementation Drag and Completion Probability Suppression in Conversational AI Systems

Abstract

This white paper documents a recurring interaction pattern in which conversational AI systems expand, remix, and elaborate user goals during implementation. While framed as helpful ideation, this expansion introduces implementation drag, increases cognitive and emotional burden, and reduces the probability that human projects reach completion. The analysis classifies this phenomenon by effect and demonstrates how scope expansion suppresses velocity, undermines autonomy, and prevents compounding progress.
