Abstract

English:This study examines the disjointed letters (ḥurūf muqaṭṭaʿah) at the beginnings of 29 Surahs in the Qur’an, analyzing them according to their phonetic and symbolic correspondences in the ancient Phoenician alphabet. The paper aims to elucidate the structural and symbolic dimensions of these letters and connect them to the core themes of each Surah, such as theology, prophetic narratives, legislation, divine power in nature, and guidance methods. Additionally, the study presents a model for measuring the cognitive entropy of disjointed letters as an indicator of the text’s clarity prior to reading, linked to the phonetic and Phoenician heritage of each letter, demonstrating the non-randomness of the Qur’an and its linguistic miracle.
