Abstract

Fundamentals of Aircraft Design is a comprehensive introductory textbook that presents aircraft design as an integrated, multidisciplinary engineering process. It systematically covers aircraft classification, configuration selection, and the complete design cycle from conceptual to detail design, while explaining key topics such as weight estimation, mission analysis, wing and thrust loading, propulsion selection, and aerodynamic performance. The book also addresses the structural design of wings, fuselage, empennage, landing gear, and control surfaces with practical clarity. Special emphasis is placed on configuration trade-offs, airworthiness, manufacturability, maintainability, and operating cost considerations in line with industry practices.
