Critical Zone Observatory in Pianosa Island: Accumulation chambers n.3 and n.4 (01/01/2024-31/12/2024)

Abstract

The installed instrumentation allows CO2 flux measurements from soil (emission and absorption/uptake) by non steady state closed dynamic accumulation Chambers. The aim is to understand if the NEE (Net Ecosystem Exchange) is increasing or decreasing and which parameters most affect this important index. More over, the NEE parameter is extremely useful in climate models. In particular chamber n.3 is a dark chamber and measures the ecosystem respiration while chamber n.4 is a transparent chamber and measures the NEE. The difference between the flux measured by chamber n.4 and that measured by chamber n.3 allows to calculate the GPP (Gross Primary Production). This dataset presents data collected by chamber 3 (Camera_3_2024.xlsx) and chamber 4 (Camera_4_2024.xlsx) every hour. The dataset includes the Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE), Ecosystem Respiration (ER), atmospheric pressure inside the chamber, soil temperature and soil humidity next to the chamber. It is also available the R2 of the regression line of the CO2 concentration versus time, of each chamber. For transparent chamber H2O flux, number of micromoles of photons striking 1 m² per second and R2 of the regression line of the H2O concentration versus time, are also available. The "Camera_3_2024.xlsx" file contains the following fields: Date: Date and time [DD/MM/YYYY hh:mm:ss] CO2 flux[3] [moles/m^2/day]: Ecosystem Respiration (ER) CO2 errq[3]: R2 of the regression line of the CO2 concentration versus time Soil W.[3] [%]: soil humidity next to the chamber Soil T.[3] [°C]: soil temperature and soil humidity next to the chamber BarP[3] [hPa]: atmospheric pressure inside the chamber The "Camera_4_2024.xlsx" file contains the following fields: Date: Date and time [DD/MM/YYYY hh:mm:ss] CO2 flux[4] [moles/m^2/day]: Ecosystem Respiration (ER) CO2 errq[4]: R2 of the regression line of the CO2 concentration versus time H2O flux[4] [moles/m^2/day]: water flux H2O errq[4]: R2 of the regression line of the H2O concentration versus time PAR[4] [µmoles/m^2/s]: numero di micromoli di fotoni che colpiscono 1 m² ogni secondo. Soil W.[4] [%]: soil humidity next to the chamber Soil T.[4] [°C]: soil temperature and soil humidity next to the chamber BarP[4] [hPa]: atmospheric pressure inside the chamber The data was collected thanks to EU - Next Generation EU Mission 4 "Education and Research - Component 2: "From research to business" - Investment 3.1: "Fund for the realisation of an integrated system of research and innovation infrastructures" - Project IR0000032 - ITINERIS - Italian Integrated Environmental Research Infrastructures System - CUP B53C22002150006.
