TÖZLER, ZATLARI GEREĞİ İYİ OLMAKSIZIN, VAR-OLMAKLIKLARI İTİBARIYLA NASIL İYİ OLURLAR?

Abstract

Öz. Boethius; Tractatus De Hebdomadibus (Hebdomades Üzerine İnceleme) olarak da bilinen, “Tözler, Zatları Gereği İyi Olmadıkları Hâlde, Var-Olmaklıkları İtibarıyla Nasıl İyi Olurlar?” başlıklı incelemesinde, yaratılmış tözlerin ontolojik iyiliğini aksiyomatik bir yöntemle temellendirir. Boethius, var-olmaklık (esse) ile olan (id quod est) arasında kurduğu kesin ayrım üzerinden, bileşik tözlerin Tanrı (İlk İyi) ile özdeş olmadıklarını; buna karşın bu tözlerin mevcut olmalarını sağlayan var-olmaklık durumunun bizzat İyi’nin iradesinden sudur etmesi nedeniyle, sırf var-olmaklıkları itibarıyla iyi olduklarını savunur. Anahtar Kelimeler: Boethius, Tractatus De Hebdomadibus, Töz, Var-Olmaklık, Varlık, Olan, Orta Çağ Felsefesi. Abstract. In his treatise titled “How Are Substances Good by Virtue of Their Beingness, Although They Are Not Substantially Good?” -also known as Tractatus De Hebdomadibus (Treatise on Hebdomads)- Boethius grounds the ontological goodness of created substances through an axiomatic method. Based on the strict distinction he establishes between beingness (esse) and that which is (id quod est), Boethius argues that composite substances are not identical to God (the First Good); nevertheless, since the state of beingness that grants them existence emanates directly from the will of the Good, they are good solely in virtue of their beingness. Keywords: Boethius, Tractatus De Hebdomadibus, Substance, Beingness, Being, That Which Is, Medieval Philosophy.
