Abstract

En este estudio se hace una propuesta de lectura e interpretación de parte de una inscripción hallada hace 65 años en el Traianeum de Italica (Santiponce, Sevilla), dedicada a la Victoria Augusta por parte de una flaminica local, que ofreció a la diosa una estatua de plata adornada con un número importante de joyas y piedras preciosas, así como su propia corona de oro. El epígrafe, excepcional, ha planteado tradicionalmente una dificultad en su lectura en una de las joyas que llevaba la corona de la estatua de la diosa. Tras el análisis de estas joyas, que procedían de oriente y cuyos nombres, de origen sanscrito, habían llegado al latín a través del griego, se plantea que la mencionada corona llevaba una rara gema, una ‘aerizusa’, de color cielo, obteniéndose una lectura más coherente de este epígrafe que además demostraba la riqueza familiar de la flaminica, de origen africano y asentada en Italica.
