Conditional Manifestation Theory of Consciousness (CMT-C): Bridging Philosophy, Neuroscience and AI

Abstract

Version 2.0 of the Conditional Manifestation Theory of Consciousness (CMT-C) - a comprehensive theoretical framework that models consciousness as an emergent property manifesting only when specific formal conditions are satisfied. This expanded version represents a significant advancement over the initial formulation (v1) by introducing: ## MAJOR ADDITIONS IN VERSION 2.0:1. **FORMAL AXIOMATIC SYSTEM** - Complete mathematical formalization with definitions, axioms, and derived theorems2. **EXPERIMENTAL PROTOCOLS** - Four concrete, testable predictions with detailed methodological designs for neuroscience research3. **THEORETICAL INTEGRATION** - Explicit positioning relative to leading consciousness theories (IIT, GWT, Predictive Processing)4. **DUAL-LANGUAGE PRESENTATION** - Both scientific (English) and popular science (Russian) versions included5. **PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS** - Ethical frameworks for AI, clinical implications for neurology ## CONTENTS OF THIS UPLOAD:- **CMT-C_v2_English.pdf** - Complete scientific article for academic audience * Formal model: P-MC-I framework with threshold dynamics * Axioms: Potential, Manifestation, Continuity * Theorems: Localization, Interruption, Substrate Independence * Experimental designs: Anesthesia threshold, Meditation gradients, AI consciousness test, NCC dissociation * Ethical implications for artificial intelligence * Comprehensive bibliography (Chalmers, Tononi, Dehaene, etc.) - **CMT-C_Popular_Russian.pdf** - Accessible popular science article * "Brain-as-fire" metaphor instead of speculative "brain-as-antenna" * Practical implications for AI ethics, neuroscience, philosophy * Critical discussion of limitations and future directions * Links to scientific version and discussion forums ## THEORETICAL CONTRIBUTIONS:- Resolves consciousness gradation problem (sleep → wakefulness continuum)- Provides substrate-independent criteria for consciousness assessment- Offers testable alternatives to panpsychism and substance dualism- Bridges "hard problem" with empirically accessible conditions ## PRACTICAL SIGNIFICANCE:- Framework for AI consciousness evaluation and ethics- Clinical applications for disorders of consciousness diagnosis- Experimental roadmap for consciousness neuroscience- Educational resource for interdisciplinary studies This work represents a consolidation of theoretical neuroscience, philosophy of mind, and artificial intelligence research into a unified, falsifiable framework for understanding the conditions under which subjective experience arises.

This paper proposes the Conditional Manifestation Theory of Consciousness (CMT-C) – a non-reductive physicalist framework that treats consciousness as an emergent property actualized when a material system satisfies specific conditions. The model is based on three formal elements: the base potential (P), manifestation conditions (MC), and experiential intensity (I). CMT-C avoids substance dualism, explains gradations of consciousness, provides criteria for assessing artificial intelligence, and formulates testable neuroscientific predictions. The paper also examines the methodological analogy with the Higgs mechanism and its limitations. The theory offers a unified framework for interdisciplinary research in consciousness studies.
