How well does the Heuristic Miner perform on a Procure-to-Pay process and other representative workflows? This video evaluates the Heuristic Miner algorithm by applying it to four controlled process logs derived from known reference workflows. The Heuristic Miner produces a Heuristic Net that closely resembles a Directly-Follows Graph and can subsequently be transformed into a Petri net. The video demonstrates how the algorithm behaves on different process types, including travel booking, recruiting, procure-to-pay, and report writing. For each case, the resulting models are examined with respect to their structure, interpretability, and suitability for further analysis. The discussion positions the Heuristic Miner in relation to other discovery techniques such as the Alpha Miner and Fuzzy Miner, highlighting its strengths and limitations when dealing with noise, frequency-based behavior, and complex control-flow structures. Supplementary material, including the event logs and reference models used in the video, is available on GitHub:https://github.com/ahense/bpa (The files are located in the folder corresponding to the video number. | selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
