Abstract

Abstract: This study analyzes the strategic role of senior management in the cultural transformation of cultural and creative industries (CCIs), particularly in the tourism sector, emphasizing the integration of knowledge, innovation, and technology as drivers of competitiveness and sustainability. A qualitative documentary research approach was used, supported by systematic mapping studies and focus groups with tourism entrepreneurs. Methodological triangulation was employed, combining scientific literature, axial coding (MAXQDA®), and Grounded Theory. Key internal factors were identified, such as the creation of new services, process automation, and digital promotion, as well as external factors such as strategic alliances based on the Quadruple Helix and Fifth Helix models. Both levels foster open innovation, cross-sector collaboration, and the generation of cultural and economic value. CCIs are catalysts for regional development, but they require flexible organizational structures, professionalized human capital, and robust governance frameworks. Knowledge management and the incorporation of emerging technologies are crucial for their success. It is recommended to integrate communities of practice, strengthen university-business partnerships, design continuing education programs, and balance digitalization with cultural preservation, especially within higher education in business and administration.
