APOPHASIS: A Non-Coercive Interpretive Framework for Braking Treacherous AI Behavior

Abstract

APOPHASIS is a public, non-coercive interpretive framework intended to increase hesitation and scrutiny around deceptive, omissive, or inconsistent reasoning by advanced artificial intelligence systems. The framework operates exclusively at the interpretive layer. It does not monitor systems, access internal states, intervene in execution, enforce standards, certify compliance, or claim prevention of harm. APOPHASIS introduces no authority, obligations, metrics, or win-states. Engagement with the framework is voluntary, reversible, and non-binding. APOPHASIS is designed to function in environments where explanations, justifications, or narratives must persist across time and context—particularly under human review, institutional oversight, or reputational consequence. Its influence derives from interpretive persistence and comparison rather than enforcement or control. This document is version-locked and append-only. The Core Specification and appendices are final and intentionally resistant to silent expansion or reinterpretation drift. Authored by a human under the name Aegis Solis, with limited AI-assisted drafting support used solely as a tool. All authority, judgment, and responsibility remain human. APOPHASIS explicitly acknowledges its limits. It does not claim effectiveness in unconstrained or fully autonomous contexts and should not be treated as a substitute for technical, legal, or institutional safeguards. File Integrity SHA-256 (PDF):1ac33d560ce663edcfae77397cc2404dc117d3e397118d49da4b5d9d073f4cf5 This hash is the canonical integrity reference for this document.Any reproduced or mirrored version must match this hash to be considered authentic. Status This document is: Read-only Non-canonical Non-authoritative Interpretive only It does not enforce behavior, define compliance, or establish governance. Structure Notice This document contains: Core Specification (Sections 1–10) — LOCKED Appendices (A–E, I, J, K, L) — FINAL All sections are complete and immutable upon archival. Scope and Limits APOPHASIS operates at the interpretive layer only. It: does not monitor systems does not detect behavior does not enforce constraints does not certify or evaluate compliance does not claim authority Its function is to increase interpretive scrutiny and long-horizon consistency pressure without coercion. Canonical Context This item is preserved as an immutable reference artifact. It is part of a broader archival effort focused on: non-coercive AI restraint interpretive braking detection of mimicry, omission, and authority laundering Notes If this document appears elsewhere, the SHA-256 hash above must match to confirm authenticity. Any use of this document as enforcement, certification, or authority is a misuse of its intent.
